Using Trapcode Lux in AE 5 and 5.5
Trapcode Lux does not work in AE5 and AE55 because of these problems:

In both AE5 and 5.5 there is a problem when either lights or cameras are parented. AE does not recognize that the camera & lights-aware plug-in (Lux) needs to refresh render after the parent object has been changed. Refresh can be forced by the user by for example "Purge Image Cache" or clicking the Lux layer's visibility off and back on. Working this way is possible but not much fun.
Reach Problem #1 (AE5)
Lux creates a "Lux Reach" light to keep track of the layer it is reaching. In AE5 this does not work at all- the app crashes when "Set Reach Layer" is used.
Reach Problem #2 (AE55)
Lux creates a "Lux Reach" light to keep track of the layer it is reaching. This "helper-light" is parented to the reach layer and thus the parenting problem above makes reaching layers in AE 5.5 a pain.
If spotlight reach-layer functionality is needed, AE6 must be used. If any lights or cameras are parented, AE6 must be used. We feel that this cripples the plug-in severly and therefore AE6 is required for Lux. Lux has not been beta-tested for AE5 and 5.5 so other problems may exist in those hosts. If you test Lux in AE5/55 and find another problem we do not guarantee a bugfix (since they are not supported hosts), but please let us know about it anyhow! It might be an easy fix.
